Giants taking to the skies

Yesterday was a stonker of a day. One of those rare summer Sundays which are hot without being languid. Days where you can go for a stroll, have Sunday roast and go to the beach.

Driving back into town, the motorway was blocked, so I took a country road into the city.  Approaching from deep countryside, we rounded a corner over a hill and descended into the city.  To the left was the large country estate that was a green twin to the city on the right.  Out of the wooded estate rose giants that were taking to the sky in great numbers and taking to the skies above the city.  Reminiscent of a mecha anime (robot manga) film, it was in actuality the largest hot air balloon fiesta in Europe.  With stoic grace, the balloons filled the air.

We take the open sky for granted.  It is strange to see it almost filled with…anything.  You have to stop and stare.
