Yesterday, I thought the world had gone mad.

Now, I am not particularly religious, but my jaw dropped when I heard the news that the Pope has approved acceptance of defecting Anglicans into the Roman Catholic Church.  The current dissent within the Anglican church stems from disatisfaction with with recent developments in Anglican policies eg. gay priesthood.  Even against this backdrop, it’s hard to understand how this ‘invitation’ could be seen as an attractive proposition – the two churches fundamentally differ in practices (which is why they split in the first place).  Whilst I scarcely believe that The Protestant Reformation is about to be reversed;  I do wonder how many will take up this offer and rejoin the RC church five centuries after the groundbreaking’n’shaking parting of ways.  I know they need to up their numbers, but I’m not sure what the Northern Irish make of all this – belief isn’t something that you can really compromise on…is it?

To add to this insanity, on the same day I hear the news that the British Nationalist Party (BNP) is intending to allow black recruits.  You  have to ask, why on earth would a black person want to join the BNP?  Yes, there are black racists, but why would they join the BNP?  Because they want a shoe-ing?    Surely the likelihood of a black person joining the BNP would be nearing the outer limits of possibility;  that would be like an Anglican joining the RC church ;-P

To top it all off, I saw that the local Freemasons Grand Lodge, known for their secrecy, are holding an open day and craft fayre next month.

I look forward to whist drives with the Illuminati.  Or has the whole world not quite been turned on its head?

Stormy skies
